Next Workshop

Date: Friday 22nd August 2025

Time : 18.00 Paris UK 5pm PT 9am MT 10am ET 12pm

Slight change of plan for this Friday’s workshop!

I was originally going to do a seascape, but I’m feeling really inspired by this hay bale scene instead. Thanks to Brad for sharing the photo, it's got a great composition and all the right elements for a lovely painting.

Earlier today on the members forum, I shared some tips on creating the effect of sunlight. Looking at Brad’s photo, I thought it would be a great opportunity to put some of those ideas into practice. I’ve had a play digitally, and on Friday we’ll explore it together in oils so we can take it even further.

I’ve included the reference images below. For the workshop, I’ll be working fairly small (around A4 / 8x10 inch) and keeping things at a nice steady pace so you can paint along if you’d like. Of course, if you’d rather just watch, you’ll be able to catch the replay and paint it later in your own time.

Hope you can join me on Friday, whether painting along or simply watching!

I will be painting on an 8” X 10” panel/canvas/paper or similar size

I will be using the following colours as a guide, use what you have or similar.

Titanium White
