Being deeply inspired by artists like Edward Seago and John Singer Sargent, both masters of loose, expressive brushwork - I try to bring that same freedom and freshness into both my own paintings and my teaching.
My teaching style is relaxed, encouraging, and completely jargon-free, so whether you're picking up a brush for the first time or returning to painting after a break, you'll find the lessons easy to follow and full of practical tips.
This little art school of mine is run by just two people - myself, and my wonderful wife Kate, who works behind the scenes managing admin, supporting our travels, and encouraging me every step of the way. We keep things simple, personal, and focused on helping you enjoy painting.
My Mission
My mission is simple: to help as many people as possible enjoy the joy of painting and gain confidence in their own creativity. Through step-by-step tutorials in watercolour or oil painting, I aim to show the full process - not just the polished end result - so you can learn techniques, develop your eye, and truly understand how a painting comes together.
This isn’t a mentorship programme
I don’t offer one-to-one feedback or critiques, as my time is devoted to creating tutorials for a wide audience. With over 2 million views per year and a growing number of members, my focus is on sharing as much knowledge as I can in a way that’s affordable and accessible.
Membership is just €15/month and gives you full access to either the watercolour library or the oil painting library - depending on which one you choose. Each includes detailed tutorials, live stream recordings, workshops, and more.
There’s also a friendly members' forum where you can share your artwork, ask questions, and connect with others on the same creative journey. While I don’t offer personalised critiques, the community is a great source of support and encouragement.

Originally from the picturesquely rugged Cornish coast in the United Kingdom, Robert and his wife Kate now live in the beautifully unspoiled ‘Berry’ region of rural Central France, in the south of the Loire Valley. On the doorstep to the south, the spectacular Dordogne Valley being simply a few hours away with its limitless artistic opportunities.
Robert has been an artist for more than 20 years, he is self taught. He has been producing demonstration tutorials on YouTube for many years now. During this time Robert also held numerous physical workshops which were well attended.
As time went by, Robert’s channel grew significantly as did the joy he felt by being able to help others to achieve their art goals. Over time, Robert felt so inspired by his love of teaching, that he felt his vocation was to head more towards the tuition side of art.
