Next livestream
Date : Friday 10th April 2026
Time : 17.45 Paris UK 4.45pm PT 8.45am MT 9.45am ET 11.45pm
Our next oil painting live stream will take place on Friday 10th April.
We’ll begin with a short chat at 5:45 p.m. (French time), with the aim to start painting at 6:00 p.m. (French time).
For those joining from the USA (now aligned with spring clock changes), the times are:
Eastern Time: 12:00 p.m. (chat) / 12:15 p.m. (painting)
Central Time: 11:00 a.m. / 11:15 a.m.
Mountain Time: 10:00 a.m. / 10:15 a.m.
Pacific Time: 9:00 a.m. / 9:15 a.m.
In this session, we’ll be painting a scene of very old, narrow streets in a stony town—something that could belong almost anywhere in the world if you go back far enough. The focus will be on capturing texture and light, bringing out the character and atmosphere of the setting.
Looking forward to painting this one with you.
As usual, I’ll be working on a small canvas, roughly around A4 size, which will be pre-toned with a warm colour. Starting with a toned surface helps unify the painting and makes it easier to establish the key values early on.
Suggested Palette
I’ll be using the following colours during the demonstration:
Titanium White
Cadmium Yellow Pale
Yellow Ochre
Cad Red
Transparent Red Oxide (or Burnt Sienna)
Burnt Umber
Cobalt Blue
Sap Green
This palette is simply a guide, so feel free to work with whatever colours you already have. There are many different ways we could approach this painting using a variety of palettes and the important thing is focusing on values, shapes, and the sense of light.
